Tested: 2025 Xpeng G9 – Full review, price & features

The Xpeng G6 is not your average electric vehicle. While most EV buyers are concerned with how far their car can go on a single charge, Xpeng is changing the game by focusing on how fast it can recharge. With a WLTP range of 336 miles, the G9 is already impressive. But what truly sets it apart is its industry-leading charging speed of 525kW, making it faster than any charger currently available in the UK.

Charging the G9 from 10-80% only takes 12 minutes, thanks to its massive battery capacity. This means less time spent waiting around at charging stations and more time enjoying the road. But before we delve too deep into the technical details, let’s address the elephant in the room: what exactly is Xpeng?

Xpeng is a Chinese car manufacturer that was founded in Guangzhou in 2014 by two former senior executives from GAC. Unlike traditional car companies, Xpeng positions itself as a tech company that happens to make vehicles. In addition to cars, Xpeng also dabbles in robots and ‘flying vehicles’, showcasing its commitment to innovation. The company’s shares are even traded on the New York and Hong Kong stock exchanges, solidifying its presence in the global market.

Autocar first featured Xpeng back in 2014, and the company has since made its mark in the UK with the introduction of the Xpeng G6. Looking ahead, Xpeng has plans to release a cutting-edge MPV called the X9, along with the G9, in the near future. However, the G9 model you see today may not be the final version, as advancements in technology happen rapidly in China.

With its focus on cutting-edge technology and fast charging capabilities, Xpeng is certainly a brand to watch in the electric vehicle market. Stay tuned for more updates on the Xpeng G9 and other innovative vehicles from this forward-thinking company.
