Toyota Unveils Stretched, Off-Road Focused bZ4X Touring Variant
Toyota has recently introduced a new variant of its bZ4X electric SUV, known as the bZ4X Touring. This off-road focused version of the popular electric SUV is set to hit UK roads next spring, offering more space and increased power.
The bZ4X Touring is designed to cater to those who enjoy off-road adventures, featuring a 140mm increase in length and a 20mm boost in height compared to the standard model. The vehicle also boasts rugged design elements that set it apart from its siblings.
Similar to the Subaru Trailseeker, which shares the same e-TNGA platform, the bZ4X Touring offers a significant increase in boot space, with a capacity of 600 litres – a 33% improvement over the standard SUV. This makes it one of the most spacious electric cars on the market, surpassing competitors like the Volkswagen ID 5 and BYD Sealion 7.
Under the hood, the bZ4X Touring delivers impressive performance, thanks to Subaru’s decision to equip it with two identical motors for better off-road balance. This setup increases the power output to 376bhp, making it the most powerful electric Toyota available. An alternative 221bhp single-motor configuration is also offered.
The Touring model is powered by a new 74.4kWh battery, providing a boost in capacity compared to its predecessor. While an official range figure has not been released, the standard bZ4X offers up to 318 miles on a single charge in its most efficient form.
Visually, the bZ4X Touring showcases a rugged aesthetic, featuring design cues borrowed from the Trailseeker. The front-end design is reminiscent of the updated bZ4X SUV, while the rear end sports a thicker light bar and chunkier bumper. Additional exterior details include roof rails, black wheel arches, and an exclusive Brilliant Bronze paint option.
Inside, the Touring variant adopts the same interior as the updated bZ4X model, complete with a new center console and a 14.0-inch infotainment screen. A City Moss color scheme has been added to enhance the cabin’s appeal.
