UTAC, a global leader in automotive testing and proving grounds, has recently appointed Kirsty Andrew as the vice president of UK operations. This marks a significant step for UTAC as Kirsty becomes the first dedicated UK vice president, highlighting the company’s commitment to enhancing and further developing automotive testing facilities.

With a history spanning back to 1924, UTAC has been a key player in providing a range of vehicle services and automotive testing, including proving tests for vehicle safety, compliance, and performance testing in accordance with regulations. UTAC Millbrook, one of their testing facilities, boasts over 50km of test tracks with various surfaces and technical characteristics.

In an interview with Kirsty Andrew, she shed light on her new role and discussed her goals for the coming year. As the vice president for UK operations, Kirsty oversees all testing activities and operational aspects in the UK. With sites in Leyland and Millbrook, her role as a figurehead aims to provide clarity of purpose both internally and externally.

The decision to appoint Kirsty as the first UK designated Vice President was driven by customer demand. UTAC recognized the need for a dedicated lead in the country to focus on operational delivery and improve customer service. Kirsty’s background in security and defense roles has prepared her for this new challenge, where she aims to empower the team and drive change within the organization.

Kirsty’s involvement in the automotive industry stems from a family background in the sector. With a passion for automotive engineering and motorsport, she found the industry to be a natural fit. As a female leader in a male-dominated industry, Kirsty emphasizes the importance of creating opportunities for individuals from diverse backgrounds to thrive in the automotive sector.

In the upcoming year, Kirsty plans to focus on efficiency, team development, and adaptability to the changing automotive landscape. By challenging the status quo and encouraging innovation within the team, she aims to improve service delivery and customer engagement. Kirsty believes that diversity in thought and background is essential for driving forward-thinking solutions in the automotive industry.

Despite some progress, Kirsty acknowledges that the representation of women in the automotive industry is still disappointingly low. She emphasizes the need for diversity in all aspects of the industry and advocates for a more inclusive and equitable work environment. As she continues to lead by example, Kirsty hopes to inspire and empower more individuals, regardless of their background, to pursue a career in the automotive sector.

In conclusion, Kirsty Andrew’s appointment as the Vice President of UK operations at UTAC reflects the company’s commitment to innovation, diversity, and excellence in the automotive testing industry. Through her leadership and vision, Kirsty aims to drive positive change, empower the team, and shape the future of automotive testing in the UK.
