Vauxhall Corsa Review 2025, Price & Specs

The Vauxhall Corsa, equipped with a 99bhp engine, faced challenging conditions in persistent rain during our test drive. Despite battling a lack of traction at the start, the Corsa managed to reach 60mph in 11.2 seconds. Comparatively, a 94bhp Volkswagen Polo with smaller wheels and tires achieved the same speed half a second faster in similar adverse conditions last year. While the Corsa’s performance was respectable, it did not stand out as exceptional.

The Corsa’s eight-speed automatic transmission posed some challenges in getting the car moving from a standstill, contributing to its slower acceleration time. Surprisingly, even though the Corsa was lighter and had more power and torque than the Polo, it was 4.1 seconds slower to reach 100mph. Despite this, the Corsa’s ample torque provided a sense of on-road power. While its acceleration may not be as smooth as some turbo superminis, there is a spirited quality to the way it gains speed that is enjoyable in both city driving and on the highway.

In our tests, the Corsa demonstrated competitive flexibility and power delivery. Its 30-70mph acceleration time was only 0.3 seconds behind the Polo, showcasing its ability to pick up speed efficiently. The 1.2-litre engine’s performance remained strong, even as the revs climbed. The eight-speed automatic gearbox performed adequately, although some testers preferred the six-speed manual for a more engaging driving experience.

The Corsa comes equipped with a range of driver assistance features, including speed limit recognition, lane departure warning, forward collision alert, and adaptive cruise control. These systems work reliably, with the lane departure warning system proving effective on motorways. The adaptive cruise control adjusts the car’s speed smoothly in response to traffic changes, providing a seamless driving experience.

Overall, the Vauxhall Corsa offers a blend of performance, comfort, and advanced safety features. While its acceleration may not be class-leading, it delivers a satisfying driving experience for those seeking a practical and versatile supermini.
