Nio, the electric vehicle manufacturer, has recently introduced the Nio World Model (NWM) to its fleet of vehicles, marking a significant advancement in smart driving capabilities. The NWM software update, initially available to over 400,000 NT 2.0 vehicles equipped with the Banyan vehicle system, promises a “comprehensive upgrade” in driving technology.
According to Nio, vehicles with the latest Cedar system will start receiving the NWM update by the end of June. The company shared a video demonstrating the enhanced smart driving performance of a vehicle equipped with NWM, showcasing its capabilities in active safety, highway navigation, urban navigation, and intelligent parking scenarios.
Nio’s transition to the NT 2.0 platform, equipped with four Nvidia Orin X chips offering 1,016 TOPS of computing power, has enabled the integration of advanced smart driving features. Models like the ES6 SUV, EC6 coupe SUV, ET5 sedan, and ET5T wagon have already received the software update, with all four models equipped with the Shenji NX9031 autonomous driving chip developed in-house by Nio.
The NWM update prioritizes safety, with features such as autonomous roadside pulling in case of driver dysfunction and AI-powered warnings for potential rear-end collisions. The system can make split-second decisions to reduce collision impact, showcasing Nio’s commitment to enhancing driver safety and experience.
In addition to safety features, NWM also improves parking assistance and navigation-assisted driving, providing a seamless driving experience for Nio vehicle owners. The company emphasized that even older models equipped with the Banyan system can benefit from the latest technological advancements in smart driving assistance, thanks to advanced hardware planning.
Overall, Nio’s NWM represents a significant step forward in smart driving technology, offering a holistic upgrade in driving capabilities and user experience. With its focus on safety, advanced computing power, and enhanced driving assistance features, Nio continues to solidify its position as a leader in the electric vehicle industry.
