Volvo recently unveiled its all-new SMA architecture and the first vehicle based on this architecture – the all-new Volvo XC70. This new car is the first model under Volvo’s SMA architecture and showcases Volvo’s new-generation family design language, blending innovation with tradition.

The Volvo XC70, known for its unique crossover wagon design, is making a comeback after being absent from the market for some time. The new XC70 is set to launch within this year and will be the first Volvo vehicle built on the all-new SMA architecture. This architecture will enable the new XC70 to offer a more efficient plug-in hybrid system, departing from the traditional multi-speed gearbox and adopting a series-parallel hybrid structure.

At the launch event, the new XC70 was unveiled, filling the gap between the 70 series and the 90 series. The mid-to-large-sized SUV features a clean and minimalist front face design, resembling that of a pure electric vehicle. The rearview mirror design and hidden door handles add to the overall sleek look of the vehicle.

Despite being a hybrid model, the XC70 features thin yet large tires with a unique wheel design that balances low wind resistance with style. The rear design includes a black trim strip for added depth and a lower license plate fixing position for a cleaner look.

Named after the SMA Super Hybrid Architecture, the new XC70 embodies Volvo’s commitment to scalability, smart technology, safety, and sustainability. The architecture supports a pure electric range of 200km and features a sustainably evolving electrical and electronic system, assisted driving capabilities, and an intelligent cockpit.

Overall, the new XC70 stays true to Volvo’s heritage while embracing innovation and sustainability. It offers a compelling option for consumers looking to transition to new energy vehicles without compromising on luxury or performance. The XC70 is set to make a mark in the competitive market, catering to those seeking a blend of tradition and modernity in their choice of vehicle.
