Tannistest Review: The Renault 5 Steals the Show
Our first experience with the Renault 5 at Tannistest left us impressed and eager for more. The buzz surrounding this car was well-deserved, with its prime parking spots at the event only adding to its allure as the one to beat.
If the Renault 5 proves to be as exceptional as our initial impressions suggest, it could potentially make history as the second car maker to win back-to-back Car of the Year titles, following in the footsteps of Fiat’s Punto and Brava/Bravo in 1995 and 1996.
Among the other first drives we experienced at Tannistest, the Ford Capri stood out as a modern take on the iconic coupé, resembling more of an electric successor to the Mondeo.
The Cupra Terramar, a rare non-electric car, showcased unique character as a hybrid model based on Volkswagen Group’s MQB architecture.
The Hyundai Inster, a city car packed with advanced technology typically found in larger models, raised eyebrows with its pricing strategy compared to its size. While likable in many aspects, it still comes with certain limitations.
On the other hand, the Nio EL8, a Range Rover-sized electric vehicle not available in the UK, failed to impress with its overly soft suspension that sacrificed comfort for an uncomfortable ride.
