Xiaomi’s phase 2 EV plant in Beijing is making significant progress, with the main structure expected to be completed by the end of this year and the entire construction project scheduled to be finished by June 15 next year. The construction workers at the plant are currently working double shifts, with operations running both during the day and at night. This accelerated construction effort underscores Xiaomi’s commitment to expanding its electric vehicle production capacity.

The phase 2 plant is located just a road away from the phase 1 plant, with the road also being expanded to accommodate the increased production activities. Xiaomi’s foray into the electric vehicle industry began with the establishment of a wholly-owned subsidiary for its smart EV business in March 2021. Since then, the company has been making steady progress towards building a state-of-the-art car factory with an annual production capacity of 300,000 vehicles.

In March this year, Xiaomi officially launched its first EV model, the SU7, which offers three variants – Standard, Pro, and Max. The company has set ambitious targets for its EV production, with plans to launch three new models over the next three years. The phase 2 plant in Beijing is a critical component of Xiaomi’s strategic expansion in the electric vehicle market.

Xiaomi’s EV factory has already achieved significant milestones, with the SU7 series surpassing delivery targets ahead of schedule. The company is now aiming to deliver 120,000 units of the SU7 series by the end of 2024. With production capacity ramping up and deliveries exceeding 10,000 units per month, Xiaomi is well-positioned to meet the growing demand for electric vehicles in the market.

As Xiaomi continues to innovate and expand its presence in the electric vehicle industry, the completion of the phase 2 EV plant in Beijing will be a major milestone in the company’s journey towards becoming a key player in the global EV market. Stay tuned for more updates on Xiaomi’s EV initiatives and future product launches.
