Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun is actively working with colleagues in the vehicle manufacturing sector to enhance production capacity, particularly for the SU7 model. Customers who have ordered the SU7 are facing a waiting period of approximately six months for delivery.
The company’s EV factory in Beijing is currently operational, boasting an annual capacity of 150,000 units in its first phase. Construction for the second phase of the factory commenced last year, with reports indicating that workers are working tirelessly to meet deadlines. The completion of the phase two plant is expected by the end of 2024, with the main structure set to be finished by June 15, 2025.
Xiaomi introduced its first EV model, the SU7, in March 2024, offering three variants at varying price points. The SU7 competes with Tesla’s Model 3 sedan and has garnered significant demand since its launch. Xiaomi aims to deliver 300,000 vehicles by the end of 2025.
Despite being on the market for almost a year, the SU7 continues to attract strong demand, with customers facing a waiting period of around six months for deliveries. Xiaomi has announced the upcoming launch of its second EV model, the YU7, with expectations set for June or July 2025.
Prior to the YU7’s release, Xiaomi will unveil the SU7 Ultra, an ultra-performance variant of the SU7. The company has set a sales target of 10,000 units for the SU7 Ultra in 2025. Reports suggest that the SU7 Ultra will be launched on February 27, ahead of the previously announced March release date.
Xiaomi’s commitment to enhancing production capacity and meeting customer demand underscores its position in the competitive EV market. With a strong lineup of models and ambitious sales targets, the company is poised to make a significant impact in the electric vehicle industry.
