Xiaomi Auto has officially unveiled its much-anticipated first SUV, the Xiaomi YU7. This new model comes in three different configurations, with prices ranging from ¥253,500 to ¥329,900 (~$35,400 USD – ~$46,100 USD).

The Xiaomi YU7 marks a significant milestone for Xiaomi Auto, as it is more than just an upgraded version of the SU7 sedan. It boasts an 800V silicon carbide platform, lidar technology, double-layer acoustic glass, four-piston calipers, continuous variable damping shock absorbers, and the innovative Xiaomi SkyScreen panoramic display.

Key highlights of the Xiaomi YU7 include its sleek design with “waterdrop headlights” and a drag coefficient of just 0.245. The interior is spacious, with a 3000mm wheelbase and the industry-first Xiaomi HyperVision SkyScreen panoramic display. The cabin also features a 16.1-inch central control screen powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip running Xiaomi’s HyperOS, enabling seamless connectivity with the “Human-Car-Home Ecosystem.”

In terms of safety and driving assistance, the YU7 utilizes ultra-high-strength steel and aluminum alloy for exceptional rigidity. It comes equipped with lidar, 4D millimeter-wave radar, multiple cameras, and ultrasonic radars powered by an NVIDIA Thor 700TOPS chip for advanced assisted driving capabilities.

Performance-wise, all YU7 models feature an 800V silicon carbide high-voltage platform. The single-motor variant delivers 235 kW with a CLTC range of 835km, while dual-motor versions offer up to 508 kW and ranges of 760km to 770km. Top-tier models include Brembo four-piston calipers and support ultra-fast charging, with the ability to add 620km of range in just 15 minutes.

The Xiaomi YU7 aims to compete with established market leaders like the Tesla Model Y by offering superior size, power, range, and intelligence. Its launch coincides with Xiaomi’s 15th anniversary and marks the company’s transition from a cross-industry entrant to an industry leader. With aspirations to expand into international markets, the YU7 is set to play a pivotal role in Xiaomi’s growth as a comprehensive technology company.
