Xiaomi’s highly anticipated first SUV model, the YU7, is set to make its debut in nearly 100 cities next month. Show cars for the YU7 will start arriving at Xiaomi EV showrooms tomorrow, with the vehicles set to be available in 13 stores in Beijing on May 29.
The YU7, which was officially unveiled on May 22, will be launched in July, marking Xiaomi’s second new model after the successful release of the SU7 electric sedan. Xiaomi EV announced that show cars of the YU7 will gradually be displayed in 92 cities across China by June.
Despite the excitement surrounding the YU7, Xiaomi EV has decided to keep the interior of the SUV closed to the public, citing that many features have yet to be revealed. As of the end of April, Xiaomi EV boasted 269 stores in 74 cities, showcasing the company’s growing presence in the electric vehicle market.
The YU7 is a five-seat mid-to-large-size SUV with impressive dimensions, including a length of 4,999 mm, width of 1,996 mm, height of 1,600 mm, and a wheelbase of 3,000 mm. Positioned as a competitor to Tesla’s popular Model Y, the YU7 offers larger dimensions and longer range, although pricing details have not been disclosed.
Xiaomi has unveiled three variants of the YU7 – Standard, Pro, and Max, similar to the SU7 lineup. The Standard and Pro variants are equipped with a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack with capacities of 96.3 kWh, offering CLTC ranges of 835 kilometers and 770 kilometers respectively. Meanwhile, the Max variant features a lithium ternary battery pack with a capacity of 101.7 kWh and a CLTC range of 760 kilometers.
At the upcoming Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area International Auto Show, Xiaomi will showcase its full lineup, including the YU7. With the success of the SU7 sedan series, Xiaomi is poised to make a significant impact in China’s competitive EV market with the launch of the YU7 SUV.
