XPENG AEROHT Secures 300-Million-Yuan Preorder Contract for 150 Units of ‘Land Aircraft Carrier’

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- XPENG AEROHT, the flying car (eVOLT) company affiliated with XPENG, has announced strategic partnerships with Gaozhi Aviation and Aocheng Aviation at the 3rd Global Digital Trade Expo. This collaboration has secured a pre-order contract for 150 units of its innovative “Land Aircraft Carrier” flying car, valued at nearly 300 million yuan ($40 million).

XPENG AEROHT, the largest flying car company in Asia and a subsidiary of XPENG, unveiled the concept of the “Land Aircraft Carrier” in October 2023. In less than a year, the company has revealed the actual vehicle for the first time, showcasing its cutting-edge technology and design.

The “Land Aircraft Carrier” is a versatile vehicle, measuring 5.5 meters in length, 2 meters in width, and 2 meters in height. It can fit into standard parking spaces and can be driven with a regular driver’s license. The vehicle consists of a ground vehicle, known as the “mother ship,” and a flying module. The “mother ship” features a tri-axle, six-wheel design with 6×6 all-wheel drive and rear-wheel steering, providing exceptional off-road capabilities and load-carrying capacity. It also includes a spacious trunk for aircraft storage and seating for four passengers.

The flying module is equipped with a six-axis, six-rotor ducted fan configuration made from carbon fiber for strength and lightness. It can detach from the ground vehicle with the push of a button, thanks to an automatic docking system. The module’s arms and rotors unfold for low-altitude flight and reconnect to the ground vehicle after landing using autonomous driving and docking technology.

The “mother ship” is powered by an 800V silicon carbide range-extended platform, offering a range of over 1,000 kilometers for long-distance travel. It also serves as a mobile supercharging station, capable of recharging the flying module while driving or stationary, enabling up to six flights on a full charge. The flying module utilizes an 800V high-voltage system for enhanced energy efficiency and charging speed.

In September, the first Type Certification Board (TCB) meeting for the flying module of the “Land Aircraft Carrier” (internally known as X3-F) was held in Guangzhou, initiating the airworthiness certification process for the flying component.

XPENG AEROHT is actively working on establishing a nationwide flying car application network, with agreements in place for nearly 110 flight camps and plans to expand to over 200 by the end of the year.
