Xpeng, a leading Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker, continued its strong delivery performance in May, with a total of 33,525 vehicles delivered. This marked the seventh consecutive month of deliveries exceeding 30,000 units for the company. Despite a slight decrease from April’s numbers, the year-on-year growth was significant at 230.43 percent compared to the same period last year.
From January to May, Xpeng delivered a total of 162,578 vehicles, representing an impressive 293.08 percent increase year-on-year. The company’s cumulative deliveries since its inception now stand at 752,957 vehicles, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
One of the standout performers for Xpeng in May was the X9 MPV, which sold 3,227 units, marking a 99 percent increase from the previous year. The X9, which was launched in April with a starting price of RMB 359,800 ($49,970), is Xpeng’s most expensive model to date. The company also announced plans to introduce the X9 MPV in Europe in the second half of 2025.
In addition to the success of the X9, Xpeng also launched new variants of the Mona M03 electric sedan in May. The Max and Plus models of the Mona M03 received a strong response from consumers, with 12,566 firm orders within the first hour of their launch. The Max variant, priced at around $20,000, offers advanced AI-assisted driving capabilities through the Turing smart driving system, similar to Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (FSD) technology.
Looking ahead, Xpeng is set to unveil the G7 SUV in June, targeting the competitive RMB 250,000 price range. The company also plans to launch the new P7 electric sedan in July-August, catering to the RMB 300,000 market segment. With a current lineup that includes models such as the Mona M03, P7+ sedan, P7i sedan, X9, G6 SUV, and G9 SUV, Xpeng is poised to continue its growth in the EV market.
