Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV) unveiled a new and improved variant of its popular P7+ mid-to-large-size electric sedan at the 2025 Shanghai auto show. This upgraded version features a battery pack with a 5C charging multiplier, allowing it to charge from 10 percent to 80 percent in just 12 minutes. The starting price for the new P7+ variant is set at RMB 208,800 ($28,570).

The 5C charging multiplier indicates that the battery can be fully charged in one-fifth of an hour, making it a highly efficient and convenient option for electric vehicle owners. Xpeng’s chairman and CEO, He Xiaopeng, highlighted that the model can achieve a range of 420 kilometers with just a 10-minute charge, showcasing its impressive performance capabilities.

Previously, the P7+ was equipped with a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack that supported 3C charging, providing a 20-minute charge time from 10 percent to 80 percent. With the introduction of the new variant, Xpeng has replaced the previous top-tier model, keeping the sedan lineup at three available versions.

In addition to the P7+, Xpeng recently launched updated versions of its G6 and G9 SUVs, as well as the X9 MPV. All three models now come standard with a battery pack that supports 5C charging, delivering up to 530 kW of power and enabling a rapid 12-minute charge time from 10 percent to 80 percent.

The success of Xpeng’s electric vehicles is evident in the delivery numbers, with over 40,000 units of the P7+ being delivered within four months of its launch. This consistent demand underscores the brand’s commitment to innovation and sustainability in the electric vehicle market.
