Xpeng, a leading electric vehicle manufacturer listed on the NYSE under the ticker symbol XPEV, has officially launched its X9 electric MPV in Indonesia. The company is set to commence local assembly of the right-hand drive version of the X9 in Jakarta starting in July. This marks a significant milestone for Xpeng as it represents the company’s first overseas localization production project.

The X9 in Indonesia comes with a starting price of 9.9 billion Indonesian rupiah, which is approximately $60,980. This competitive pricing makes the X9 an attractive option for consumers in the Indonesian market looking for a high-quality electric MPV.

Originally introduced in China on January 1, 2024, the X9 has quickly gained popularity as Xpeng’s first MPV model. Following its success in the Chinese market, Xpeng unveiled the 2025 X9 MPV on April 15, with plans to expand its presence to Europe in the second half of the year.

The 2025 X9 MPV offers four different variants in China, with prices ranging from RMB 359,800 to RMB 419,800. The company aims to cater to a wide range of customer preferences with its diverse lineup of the X9 model.

Xpeng initiated pre-sales for the G6 SUV and X9 MPV in Indonesia on March 16, signaling its commitment to establishing a strong presence in the Indonesian market. The company’s decision to localize production in Indonesia underscores the country’s significance as a key market for electric vehicles in Southeast Asia.

Indonesia has ambitious plans to produce 400,000 electric vehicles by 2025, with a target of reaching 1 million units by 2035. Xpeng’s investment in the Indonesian market aligns with the country’s vision for sustainable transportation and underscores the company’s commitment to global expansion.

With a goal of expanding its international footprint to over 60 countries and regions, Xpeng aims to achieve 50% of its sales from overseas markets within the next decade. The company currently operates in more than 30 international markets and continues to strengthen its presence globally.

In terms of sales performance, the X9 delivered 21,653 units in 2024, accounting for over 11% of Xpeng’s total annual delivery volume. In May 2025, Xpeng achieved a year-on-year increase of 230.43% in vehicle deliveries, with the X9 contributing significantly to this growth.

Looking ahead, Xpeng remains focused on driving innovation in the electric vehicle industry and expanding its market reach to deliver sustainable mobility solutions to customers worldwide. The launch of the X9 in Indonesia represents a key milestone in the company’s global expansion strategy and underscores its commitment to advancing the adoption of electric vehicles in emerging markets.
