AEye, a software company, has recently completed the initial high-volume production of its Apollo LiDAR sensors at Lite-On Technology’s manufacturing line in Taipei, Taiwan. Apollo LiDAR sensors are known for their exceptional one-kilometer detection range at highway speeds, setting new standards for automotive safety and autonomous transportation performance.

Matt Fisch, the CEO of AEye, expressed his satisfaction with the completion of the production line, stating, “We recently announced our collaboration with LITEON to ramp up the Apollo production line. Today, I am pleased to announce that the line is now operational, with the first customer-ready units being delivered. Automotive OEMs demand the highest level of product quality and consistency, which can only be achieved at scale by experienced automotive suppliers like LITEON. Thanks to our partnership, we can confidently deliver Apollo sensors to OEMs.”

The distribution of Apollo units by LITEON signifies a significant milestone in the partnership with AEye and aligns with the company’s strategy of maintaining a low-capital business structure. Apollo is part of AEye’s 4Sight Flex series of advanced LiDAR sensors, offering superior range and resolution with a wavelength of 1550nm.

The Apollo LiDAR sensor is designed to be flexible in its mounting options, allowing it to be positioned behind the windshield, on the roof, or within the grille. This versatility enables OEMs to incorporate essential safety features seamlessly into their vehicles.

Introduced in March 2024, AEye’s Apollo software-defined LiDAR solution is the first product in the company’s 4Sight Flex next-generation family of LiDAR sensors. The technology supports a horizontal field of view of up to 120° and a vertical field of view of 30°, enhancing the sensor’s capabilities in detecting obstacles and objects on the road.

Lite-On Technology, founded in 1975, has established a strong global presence through its expertise in opto-electronics and power management. The collaboration between AEye and LITEON signifies a strategic partnership that leverages both companies’ strengths to deliver cutting-edge LiDAR technology to the automotive industry.

In conclusion, the successful production of Apollo LiDAR sensors at Lite-On Technology’s manufacturing line marks a significant achievement for AEye in advancing automotive safety and autonomous driving technologies. The integration of Apollo sensors into vehicles is set to revolutionize the industry and pave the way for safer and more efficient transportation systems.
