Fiat has recently kickstarted the production of the Fiat 500 Hybrid at its Mirafiori plant in Turin, Italy. This marks a significant milestone in the vehicle’s journey towards full-scale production, set to begin in November.

The Fiat 500 Hybrid is a testament to the company’s commitment to sustainable mobility and its deep-rooted connection to Italy. Olivier Francois, the CEO of FIAT and Stellantis Global CMO, emphasized the importance of the 500 Hybrid in offering affordable electrification and iconic style, highlighting the brand’s mission of social relevance.

With a hybrid engine, the Fiat 500 Hybrid is designed to support the global shift towards greener transportation options. This model will provide consumers in Europe and other markets with a sustainable choice for the iconic city car.

The Mirafiori plant plays a crucial role in Fiat’s production, with over 70% of the vehicles manufactured there being exported outside Italy. This underscores the widespread appeal of the Fiat 500 on a global scale.

In a related development, Stellantis temporarily halted the production of the electric Fiat 500 at the Mirafiori plant from December 2, 2024, to January 5, 2025. This pause was attributed to subdued demand for electric vehicles in the European market, reflecting the industry’s ongoing challenges and fluctuations.

As Fiat continues to innovate and expand its lineup with sustainable options like the Fiat 500 Hybrid, the brand remains at the forefront of the automotive industry’s evolution towards greener and more eco-friendly solutions. The production of the Fiat 500 Hybrid at the Mirafiori plant signifies a step in the right direction towards a more sustainable future for transportation.
