Leapmotor, a Chinese electric vehicle (EV) startup listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange under the ticker 9863, has achieved a significant milestone by reaching a cumulative delivery volume of 800,000 vehicles. This achievement underscores the company’s growing presence in the competitive EV market.
The announcement of this milestone was made on Weibo, with the company highlighting the upcoming launch of the 2026 C16 SUV. The updated version of the C16 is set to be officially launched later today and is expected to come with over 70 major upgrades, including extended range and increased interior space.
In terms of delivery numbers, Leapmotor has already delivered 26,794 vehicles this month, building on its cumulative delivery volume of 773,206 vehicles as of the end of May. This consistent growth in delivery numbers reflects the increasing demand for Leapmotor’s EV models.
The launch event for the 2026 C16 SUV is scheduled to take place at 2:00 pm Beijing Time on Wednesday. The new C16 model, initially introduced as a six-seat model in June 2024, will now also offer five-seat variants to cater to a wider range of customer preferences.
Founded in 2015, Leapmotor has been a pioneer in China’s automotive startup scene. While the company initially focused on battery electric vehicle (BEV) models, it expanded its offerings to include extended-range electric vehicles (EREV) in March 2023.
Currently, Leapmotor’s lineup in China includes the T03, B10, C01, C10, C11, and C16 models. While the T03 and B10 are available only as BEV variants, the other models offer both BEV and EREV options.
Targeting the mid-to-low-end market segment, Leapmotor’s vehicles are priced competitively compared to similar-sized models from other automakers. For instance, the older C16 model, with a starting price of RMB 155,800 for the EREV variant, offers a cost-effective option for consumers.
In May, Leapmotor achieved a record delivery of 45,067 vehicles, surpassing the previous high of 42,517 units in December 2024. This represents a significant year-on-year increase of 148.10 percent and a month-on-month increase of 9.82 percent.
From January to May, Leapmotor delivered a total of 173,658 vehicles, reflecting a year-on-year increase of 160.83 percent. These impressive delivery numbers underscore the company’s growth trajectory and increasing market share in the EV sector.
As Leapmotor continues to expand its product offerings and enhance its technology, the company is poised to further solidify its position in the competitive EV market. The upcoming launch of the 2026 C16 SUV signals Leapmotor’s commitment to innovation and meeting the evolving needs of customers in the electric vehicle industry.
