Geely Australia has officially announced that the Geely EX5 pure electric SUV, also known as the Geely Galaxy E5 in China, is set to launch in mid-2025 with a price tag of around 45,000 USD. This model will be tailored to suit the Australian market, with adjustments made to configurations and the suspension system.

The Geely Galaxy E5 was recently introduced in China, offering five different trims with prices ranging from 112,800 to 148,800 yuan. The Australian version of the Geely EX5 is expected to undergo specific modifications to meet local requirements. There are talks of calibrating the camera and radar systems to adapt to Australian driving conditions, as well as the inclusion of OTA update capabilities.

Earlier this year, the Geely EX5 made its debut in Frankfurt, Germany, and was launched as the Proton e.MAS 7 in Malaysia. The Malaysian version is available in basic and advanced trims priced at 109,800 and 123,800 ringgit, respectively.

The Geely EX5 maintains a similar appearance, interior design, and power specifications as the domestic version. Built on Geely’s GEA platform, it boasts dimensions of 4615/1901/1670 mm and a wheelbase of 2750 mm. The front-mounted electric motor delivers a maximum power of 160 kW and a peak torque of 320 Nm, with an acceleration time of 0 – 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds. The battery options include 49.52 kWh and 60.22 kWh capacities, offering a cruising range of 440 km and 530 km, respectively.

The interior of the Geely EX5 features a 10.2-inch instrument panel, a 15.4-inch central control screen powered by the Flyme Auto system, HUD, 16-speaker Flyme Audio system, and a level 2 advanced driving assistance system. Standard features also include automatic climate control, seat heating, cooling, ventilation, massage functions, and a 50W mobile phone wireless charging panel.

Geely’s plans to expand into international markets along China’s “Belt and Road” initiative include establishing over 600 overseas sales outlets in Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Africa, and South America. The goal is to achieve overseas sales of more than 600,000 vehicles by 2025. The Geely EX5 has already been introduced in Thailand and Malaysia, with pre-sales opened in Hong Kong. Future plans include launching in Indonesia and Norway.
