Toyota has announced the release of its new electric SUV, the 2026 Toyota bZ. This upgraded model boasts a slew of improvements, including increased range, an enhanced interior and exterior design, and the addition of an NACS port for recharging at Tesla Superchargers. Despite these upgrades, the starting price for the 2026 Toyota bZ is surprisingly affordable, coming in at under $35,000.

The previous bZ4X model has been discontinued in favor of the new and improved bZ. Toyota has made significant enhancements to the vehicle for the 2026 model year, offering more features, a refreshed appearance, and increased driving range. The base XLE FWD trim comes equipped with a 57.7 kWh battery, providing 236 miles of range, all for a starting price of $34,900. For those looking for even more range, the extended-range bZ XLE FWD Plus model offers a larger 74.7 kWh battery with up to 314 miles of range, priced at $37,900.

If you opt for the AWD model, prices start at $39,900. The AWD models now boast up to 388 hp thanks to new SIC semiconductors, a 50% improvement over the previous model. The range-topping 2026 Toyota bZ Limited FWD trim starts at $43,300, with an additional $2,000 for the AWD upgrade.

The new bZ also features a built-in NACS port, allowing for convenient recharging at Tesla Superchargers. With a new thermal management system and battery preconditioning, the bZ can charge from 10% to 80% in just 30 minutes. The exterior of the vehicle showcases Toyota’s new “hammerhead front end design” with an LED light bar across the front, giving it a sleek and modern look.

Inside, the 2026 bZ boasts a redesigned center console, a larger 14″ Toyota Audio Multimedia touchscreen, two wireless phone chargers, and an improved dashboard. The name change from bZ4X to bZ was done to simplify things for buyers, making it easier to understand the lineup.

The 2026 Toyota bZ models are expected to start arriving at dealerships in the second half of 2025. In the meantime, Toyota is offering clearance prices on the 2025 bZ4X models, with up to $12,000 off in lease cash. If you’re interested in purchasing a bZ4X model, you can find them in your area through Toyota’s trusted affiliate link.

Overall, the 2026 Toyota bZ offers a compelling combination of performance, range, and affordability, making it a strong contender in the electric SUV market.
