The agreement between the two automotive giants entails FAW-Volkswagen’s commencement of importing specific parts and complete Audi vehicles from Volkswagen AG starting in 2025. The primary goal is to diversify product offerings and elevate the quality of mobility options for Chinese consumers.
The year 2024 holds special significance for Volkswagen as it marks the company’s 40th anniversary in China. Since its inception in 1984, Volkswagen has transitioned from conducting CKD trial production to adopting an integrated “in China, for China” approach, aligning with the evolution of China’s automotive sector.
FAW-Volkswagen stands as a stellar example of Sino-German automotive collaboration and plays a pivotal role in Volkswagen AG’s localized strategy. Over the years, the joint venture has expanded from a single brand offering a solitary model to encompassing three brands with a diverse portfolio of over 30 oil-fueled and new energy vehicle (NEV) options. This growth has not only created close to 500,000 job opportunities within the supply chain but has also contributed over 700 billion yuan in taxes. Amidst intensifying competition in the automotive landscape, FAW-Volkswagen remains steadfast in addressing local demands and propelling advancements in production, research and development, logistics, and sustainable practices.
