Huawei and JAC have joined hands to introduce a new brand called Maextro, with their first car, the S800, set to be unveiled at the Huawei Mate brand ceremony on November 26. The teaser image of the tail light gives us a glimpse of the grandeur and sophistication of the upcoming vehicle. Richard Yu, the chairman of Huawei’s smart car unit, has described the S800 as “very respectful, very big, very bright,” and the teaser image certainly reflects this with its Milky Way-like effect created by multiple light sources.

The Maextro S800 is expected to be around 5.5 meters in length, making it one of the largest cars on the road. It is speculated that the actual length might be around 5480 millimeters, placing it in the D+ size category alongside luxury vehicles like the Maybach S class and Rolls Royce Ghost. Despite its size, the S800 will be fully electric, catering to the growing demand for environmentally friendly vehicles.

The car will feature unique design elements such as four logos, a new “star picking” door handle, and two-tone color options. It will also come with 21-inch wheels and a distinctive front headlight design. The S800 is expected to launch in the spring of 2025, with a second Maextro model rumored to follow by the end of the year, possibly an MPV.

Reports suggest that the S800 will be built on the JAC X6 platform and will be equipped with advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and an infotainment system developed by Huawei. Spy shots have revealed a LIDAR sensor mounted on the roof of the car, indicating high-tech features integrated into the vehicle.

The Maextro brand falls under Huawei’s Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA), where Huawei is deeply involved in various aspects of the vehicle, from design to sales, but does not actually produce the car. The S800 is positioned as a high-end model within the HIMA ecosystem, with an estimated price of around 1 million yuan (140,000 USD).

With plans to produce 35,000 units of the S800 annually at JAC’s new factory, Maextro aims to expand its lineup in the future. The brand joins Aito, Luxeed, and Stelato as part of the HIMA alliance, offering consumers a range of intelligent and sustainable mobility solutions. Stay tuned for the official unveiling of the Maextro S800 on November 26.
