Smart has introduced a new model, the Smart #5, which is a mid-size SUV that runs purely on electricity. This vehicle is a significant development for the brand, as it combines a striking design, high performance, and cutting-edge technology. With a wheelbase of 2.9 meters and a length of 4705 mm, the Smart #5 makes a bold statement on the road. Following the brand’s “Sensual and Sharp” design philosophy, this model is the largest in Smart’s lineup and builds on the success of the Smart #1.

The prototype of the Smart #5 was first showcased at the Beijing Auto Show in June 2024 without B-pillars, but the production model now includes them. The exterior design of the Smart #5 is both dynamic and practical, with an aerodynamic roofline that enhances its sleek silhouette and a long wheelbase that gives it a commanding presence on the road. The front fascia features quad LED daytime running lights and vertical grille slats, giving the vehicle a unique identity. Additionally, the Smart #5 comes equipped with a roof rack that can support up to 240 kg in static load, perfect for carrying outdoor equipment like bikes or kayaks.

Inside the Smart #5, you’ll find a spacious and luxurious cabin designed for comfort and technology. The interior boasts high-quality materials, including European wood accents and soft-touch surfaces, creating a modern and sophisticated atmosphere. The cockpit features dual 13-inch AMOLED 2.5K central control screens powered by an AMD V2000 chip, providing an intuitive user experience. A 25.6-inch AR-HUD adds a futuristic touch to the cabin, while the Sennheiser sound system on higher trims delivers an immersive audio experience.

When it comes to driving the Smart #5, you can expect a smooth and responsive experience. The vehicle features a sophisticated suspension system with dual-wishbone suspension in the front and multi-link in the rear, offering excellent road feedback while maintaining ride comfort. The electric powertrain is paired with a 100 kWh battery, delivering robust energy output and an extended range. The AWD variant of the Smart #5 boasts an impressive 432 kW of total power output and can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds.

In terms of safety and driver assistance, the Smart #5 is equipped with Smart Pilot Assist 3.0, powered by dual Nvidia Drive OrinX autonomous driving chips. The vehicle comes with 23 standard safety features, including traffic jam assist, lane change assist, and forward and rear collision mitigation. The Smart #5 also features eight airbags, including front, side, and curtain airbags, as well as an optional zero-gravity seat cushion airbag for added safety and comfort.

Overall, the Smart #5 is a versatile electric SUV that offers a blend of style, performance, and practicality. Whether you’re looking for a family car, an adventure-ready vehicle, or an eco-friendly commuter, the Smart #5 delivers on all fronts. With its innovative design and advanced technology, the Smart #5 is a testament to Smart’s commitment to innovation and forward-thinking design.
