Matt is Autocar’s lead features writer and presenter, known for his expertise in the automotive industry. He is the main face of Autocar’s YouTube channel, presenting engaging content to car enthusiasts worldwide. In addition to his video work, Matt hosts the popular My Week In Cars podcast and has been writing his weekly column, Tester’s Notes, since 2013.
Background in Automotive Engineering
With a background in automotive engineering, Matt has been sharing his passion for cars since 1997. He joined Autocar in 2005 as deputy road test editor, bringing a wealth of experience to the team. Prior to his role at Autocar, Matt served as road test editor and world rally editor for Channel 4’s automotive website, 4Car.
Passion for Engineering and Automotive
Matt’s love for all things engineering and automotive spans across eras. He is a regular contributor to sibling titles Move Electric and Classic & Sports Car, showcasing his versatility as a writer. In addition to his writing endeavors, Matt holds a racing license and enjoys tinkering with classic cars and motorbikes, despite some occasional malfunctions.
