Accenture has announced the acquisition of AOX, a German company specializing in embedded software for the automotive industry. This strategic move is aimed at enhancing Accenture’s ability to support automotive clients as they transition to software-defined vehicles.

AOX is known for its expertise in designing and developing complex system architectures and high-performance software essential for modern vehicle performance and features. The company helps car manufacturers and suppliers transition from traditional software engineering to more integrated and scalable architectures.

Christof Horn, who leads Accenture’s digital engineering and manufacturing service Industry X in Europe, emphasized the increasing importance of software expertise in the auto market. He highlighted AOX’s strengths in high-performance computing, real-time operating systems, and the entire software development process, making them an ideal addition to Accenture.

Based in Villingen-Schwenningen, Germany, AOX boasts a team of over 50 professionals who will now join Accenture’s Industry X engineering division. AOX co-founder and CEO Rainer Oder expressed excitement about the opportunities the acquisition brings for employees and clients, enabling them to tackle complex software challenges and drive innovation.

The deal will strengthen Accenture’s position in the European automotive sector, as AOX’s client base includes major German carmakers and key automotive suppliers. Christina Raab, market unit lead for Accenture in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, highlighted the importance of deep software architecture expertise and project execution capabilities across the entire product lifecycle.

By combining AOX’s and Accenture’s capabilities, the companies aim to develop software from the chip to the cloud, covering the complete lifecycle from architecture design to maintenance. This acquisition demonstrates Accenture’s commitment to building strategic relationships with clients and supporting them along the complex Automotive Software value chain.
