BYD’s sub-brand Fang Cheng Bao recently unveiled its latest offering, the Tai 7 SUV, aimed at competing with popular models such as the GWM Tank 300 Hi4-T and Li Auto’s Li L6. Priced at a starting point of RMB 179,800 ($25,250), the Tai 7 presents a more affordable option in the SUV market.

The Tai 7 is the second model in the Tai series, following the Tai 3, and is designed with a focus on family use rather than off-road capabilities like the Bao series. The SUV features a sleek and modern design, with four different variants available at varying price points to cater to a wide range of consumers.

Measuring 4,999 mm in length, 1,995 mm in width, and 1,865 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,920 mm, the Tai 7 offers ample space for passengers and cargo. It is equipped with a 1.5T engine that delivers a peak power of 115 kW (154 hp) and peak torque of 225 Nm.

The lower-priced variants of the Tai 7 come with a single-motor front-wheel-drive configuration, while the higher-priced models feature a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup for enhanced performance. The SUV boasts impressive acceleration capabilities, with the top-tier models accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds.

In terms of battery and range, the Tai 7 offers different options to suit varying needs. The entry-level model comes with a 26.6-kWh battery pack and a range of 135 km, while the higher-tier variants feature a 35.6-kWh battery pack with a range of 170-200 km. With a 60 L fuel tank, the Tai 7 can achieve a combined range of over 1,300 km when fully fueled and charged.

One of the standout features of the Tai 7 is BYD’s God’s Eye B smart driving system, which includes the DiPilot 300 solution and incorporates advanced hardware like a LiDAR sensor. The SUV also introduces BYD’s in-house developed tablet, allowing for seamless multi-screen collaboration within the vehicle.

Fang Cheng Bao’s foray into the SUV market with the Tai 7 follows the brand’s successful launch of the Bao series, which includes the Bao 5 and Bao 8 hybrid off-road SUVs. With a strong sales performance in August 2025, Fang Cheng Bao is poised to make a mark in the competitive automotive landscape.

In conclusion, the BYD Fang Cheng Bao Tai 7 SUV offers a compelling blend of performance, technology, and affordability, making it a standout choice in the SUV segment. With its family-friendly design and advanced features, the Tai 7 is set to appeal to a wide range of consumers looking for a reliable and stylish SUV option.
