BYD, a leading new energy vehicle (NEV) manufacturer, achieved record-high sales in June despite a slight dip in month-on-month growth for the third consecutive month. The company sold a total of 382,585 NEVs in June, marking the highest sales figure for the year. This represented a year-on-year increase of 11.98 percent but only a marginal 0.03 percent increase from May.

In June, BYD saw a surge in overseas sales, with 90,049 vehicles sold, marking the seventh consecutive month of reaching new highs. This translated to a remarkable year-on-year increase of 233.58 percent and a month-on-month increase of 1.13 percent.

The company’s NEV sales encompass both passenger vehicles and commercial vehicles. Passenger NEVs accounted for the majority of sales, with 377,628 units sold in June, representing an 11.00 percent year-on-year increase and a 0.19 percent increase from May. On the other hand, commercial NEVs saw a significant year-on-year growth of 242.57 percent but experienced a slight decline of 10.62 percent from the previous month.

BYD’s focus on producing plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) and battery electric vehicles (BEVs) has paid off, with passenger BEV sales surpassing 200,000 units for the second consecutive month in June. The company also reported robust sales of passenger PHEVs, although there was a slight decrease compared to the previous month.

In addition to its NEV sales, BYD is a major player in the power battery and energy storage sector. The company recorded about 27.019 GWh of power battery and energy storage battery installations in June, reflecting a significant year-on-year increase of 67.81 percent.

Looking at the second quarter performance, BYD’s NEV sales totaled 1,145,150 units, representing a year-on-year increase of 16.06 percent and a quarter-on-quarter increase of 14.42 percent. Passenger NEVs accounted for the majority of sales, while commercial NEVs also saw a substantial year-on-year growth.

In conclusion, BYD’s consistent sales growth and stable production capacity have positioned the company as a key player in the NEV market. With a strong focus on innovation and sustainability, BYD continues to drive the adoption of electric vehicles both domestically and internationally.
