BYD’s luxury sub-brand Yangwang has unveiled its latest offering in the ultra-luxury SUV market with the launch of the U8L model. This full-size SUV measures 5.4 meters in length and packs a powerful punch with 1,180 horsepower under the hood. The U8L is set to hit the roads in late September, offering a taste of luxury and performance for discerning customers.

Priced at RMB 1.28 million ($179,690), the U8L represents one of the most expensive models from a Chinese automaker. It is the fourth model to join Yangwang’s lineup, following the U8 off-road SUV, the U9 electric supercar, and the U7 sedan. With deliveries scheduled to begin soon, the U8L is poised to make a statement in the luxury SUV segment.

The U8L is a long-wheelbase version of the U8, offering a spacious interior and premium features that cater to the needs of luxury SUV enthusiasts. Crafted with attention to detail, the U8L boasts a gold emblem made from 24K real gold, emphasizing its premium status among its peers.

Powered by four electric motors, the U8L delivers an impressive 1,180 horsepower and 1,280 Nm of torque, propelling it from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds. With a CLTC battery range of 200 kilometers and a total range of 1,160 kilometers when fully fueled and charged, the U8L offers both performance and practicality for daily driving.

Equipped with BYD’s advanced DiSus-P body control system, the U8L ensures a comfortable and smooth driving experience for passengers. The smart driving system, supported by BYD’s God’s Eye A technology and DiPilot 600 driver assistance solution, enhances safety and convenience on the road.

In August, Yangwang recorded strong sales figures, with 405 vehicles sold, including 77 U8s, 1 U9 electric supercar, and 327 U7 sedans. This positive trend reflects the growing popularity of Yangwang’s luxury lineup among Chinese consumers.

With the launch of the U8L, Yangwang continues to make waves in the luxury SUV market, offering a blend of performance, luxury, and cutting-edge technology for discerning customers. As deliveries commence in late September, the U8L is set to make a lasting impression on the ultra-luxury SUV segment.
