Changan‘s sub-brand Deepal recently unveiled its latest compact SUV, the Deepal S05, on October 20th. The Deepal S05 is available in both extended-range and pure electric configurations, with prices ranging from 119,900 Yuan to 149,900 Yuan.
During the launch event, Deepal officials announced advancements in their super extended-range technology. The third-generation engineering prototype has been introduced, featuring the next-generation Yuanli Ultra Drive system with an average operating efficiency of 94% and the Yuanli Intelligent Extended-Range system achieving a maximum thermal efficiency of 47.03%. The next-generation Jin Zhong Zhao battery supports fast charging rates, making it possible to charge from 30% to 80% in just minutes. Furthermore, Deep Blue will be equipped with an advanced intelligent driving system by 2025, aiming for global expansion and production at the Thai factory.
The exterior design of the Deepal S05 showcases clean lines and a minimalist approach, highlighting the vehicle’s DLP headlights powered by HUAWEI XPIXEL technology. These innovative headlights can project various images, turning the S05 into a multimedia platform for outdoor entertainment experiences. The sporty side profile and dynamic silhouette enhance the overall appeal of the vehicle, while the rear end features sleek design elements and a high-mounted stop lamp.
Inside, the Deepal S05 boasts a vibrant dual-tone color scheme with chrome accents, a flat-bottom steering wheel, and a large sunflower-shaped central display. The vehicle offers advanced features such as a 14-speaker surround sound system, panoramic sunroof, AR-HUD, and wireless charging. The extended-range and pure electric versions provide different powertrain options and battery capacities to suit varying driving needs.
