Changan’s Deepal Auto recently announced the specifications for its newest compact SUV, the Deepal S05. This vehicle comes in two power-train options: pure electric and extended-range, with a total of five trims available to choose from. The official launch of the Deepal S05 is scheduled for October 20th, with pre-orders starting on September 20th requiring a deposit of 1000 yuan (140 USD), which can be upgraded to 3000 yuan (425 USD). Although the retail price is yet to be confirmed, anticipation is building for this new addition to the Deepal lineup.

The design of the Deepal S05 sets it apart from its predecessors, showcasing a sportier aesthetic. The car features a closed front grille and a three-segment lower air intake, measuring at 4620/1900/1600 mm with a 2880 mm wheelbase. Depending on the trim, the Deepal S05 offers various features such as an electric trunk, illuminated ring lights, and pixelated headlights. All models come standard with frame-less doors and hidden door handles for a sleek and modern look.

Inside, the Deepal S05 boasts a two-tone color scheme with chrome accents, hidden air conditioning vents, a 15.4-inch center control screen, and intelligent cruise control. One notable feature is the absence of a traditional instrument panel behind the wheel, replaced instead by a large Heads-Up Display (HUD). Additionally, all models come equipped with the Qualcomm SA8155P automotive chip for enhanced performance.

The extended-range version of the Deepal S05 is powered by a 1.5L range extender system with a maximum power of 72 kW for the extender and 160 kW for the electric motor. Paired with a 27.28 kWh battery pack, this version offers a pure electric range of 200 km. On the other hand, the pure electric version features a 175 kW electric motor with a 56.12 LFP battery pack, providing an estimated range of 510 km on a CLTC cycle.

As Deepal’s first entry-level SUV, the S05 is generating excitement in the market. With a successful sales trend, delivering 120,710 units from January to August of this year, Deepal is poised to make a significant impact with the launch of the S05. While most details have been disclosed by the manufacturer, the official price announcement is eagerly awaited by potential buyers.

Stay tuned for more updates on the Deepal S05 as it nears its official launch date.
