Daimler Truck, in collaboration with DHL Group and hylane, has announced a groundbreaking partnership to introduce fully electric trucks into DHL’s fleet. The agreement was formalized at the “transport logistic” trade fair in Munich, with DHL set to acquire 30 Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 trucks through hylane’s innovative “Transport as a Service model”.
Under this unique model, DHL will not own the vehicles; instead, hylane will charge DHL based on the actual kilometers traveled. This flexibility aligns with the growing trend of businesses seeking sustainable and cost-effective solutions to reduce their carbon footprint.
The electric trucks are earmarked for deployment in the Post & Parcel Germany division, where they will enhance the efficiency of transport between parcel centers. Marc Hitschfeld, Chief Operations Officer of DHL Group Post & Parcel Germany division, expressed his satisfaction with the partnership, emphasizing the commitment to advancing e-mobility and zero-emission logistics.
The delivery of the 30 electric trucks is expected by the end of the second quarter of 2026. For hylane, this acquisition represents a strategic expansion of its portfolio, which has predominantly focused on fuel cell electric trucks until now.
Christian Wilz, Chairman of the Management Board of Daimler Truck Germany Mercedes-Benz Trucks & FUSO, highlighted the significance of the eActros 600 in addressing the demands of long-distance transport while operating economically and efficiently. The partnership with hylane and DHL, along with the order for 30 vehicles, underscores a commitment to driving change and electrifying long-distance transport.
Additionally, RIZON, Daimler Truck’s latest all-electric vehicle brand, celebrated the arrival of its first shipment of class 4-5 vehicles in British Columbia, Canada, last year.
As the automotive industry continues to shift towards sustainable solutions, partnerships like this one between Daimler Truck, DHL Group, and hylane are paving the way for a greener future in transportation. Stay tuned for more updates on the electrification of the transport sector and the innovation driving positive change in the industry.
