Citroën has unveiled the new C5 Aircross, a larger and more spacious version of its predecessor, the Mk1. The new model has grown 150mm in length, now measuring 4652mm, to accommodate a significant 60mm increase in wheelbase. According to Citroën, almost all of this increase is dedicated to enhancing rear legroom, providing a more comfortable experience for passengers.
One of the standout features of the C5 Aircross is the ‘C-Zen Lounge’ interior design concept, which aims to create a cozy and inviting atmosphere inside the vehicle. Citroën describes it as a space where occupants are seated as if in a living room. The dashboard, in particular, has been inspired by traditional living room furniture, with foam fabric padding that resembles a sofa and is available in light or dark colors. The ambient lighting can be customized in eight different colors, adding to the overall ambiance of the interior.
The centerpiece of the new dashboard is a large ‘floating’ touchscreen, which Citroën claims is the largest ever fitted to a Stellantis car. This touchscreen replaces many physical controls and features fixed status and control bars, programmable widgets, and direct access to the climate control. Smartphone mirroring and a 10-inch digital display come standard, along with the ‘Hello Citroën’ voice control function, which allows drivers to control various in-car functions with the help of AI support from ChatGPT.
Overall, the new Citroën C5 Aircross offers a spacious and luxurious interior that combines modern technology with a comfortable and inviting design. With its larger size and innovative features, this new model promises to provide a premium driving experience for both drivers and passengers alike.
