Ferrari F80 succeeds LaFerrari with 1184bhp F1 V6 powertrain

The Ferrari F80 is a powerhouse on four wheels, boasting a combined 1184bhp that propels it from 0-62mph in just 2.15 seconds and 0-124mph in a mere 5.75 seconds. This performance outshines both the McLaren W1 and the Mercedes-AMG One, making the F80 a force to be reckoned with.

Drivers can choose from different modes, including Hybrid, Performance, and Qualify, which can be selected via the eManettino switch on the steering wheel. While there is no pure-electric mode like the 296, the F80 is not a plug-in hybrid. Instead, its 2.3kWh battery serves to enhance power and enable short-distance engine-off running at low speeds.

The Hybrid mode optimizes the powertrain for efficiency, while Performance and Qualify modes unlock the F80’s Boost Optimization function. This feature records the track during a sighting lap and provides power boosts when needed on the next pass, such as on straights or uphill sections.

In terms of aerodynamics, the F80 benefits from Ferrari’s expertise in motorsport, incorporating design elements inspired by their F1 cars. The underbody features large barge boards to channel air underneath the car, while the front end sports an aggressive nose with a massive ‘S-Duct’ that directs air over the cabin and towards the rear.

The black fascia at the front, reminiscent of the new 12Cilindri, includes a small lip to guide air over the cabin to the rear wing. This attention to aerodynamic detail helps maximize downforce and enhance performance on the track.

Overall, the Ferrari F80 is a cutting-edge supercar that combines power, performance, and aerodynamic excellence. With its impressive speed and advanced technology, it sets a new standard for high-performance vehicles in the automotive industry.
