Car enthusiasts have always had a special place in their hearts for their beloved vehicles. But for some ultra-luxury collectors, simply storing their cars in a standard garage just won’t cut it. Instead, they are turning to architect Jonathan Clark and his company Garage Deluxe to create custom-designed, high-end luxury garages that are more like galleries than storage spaces.
Clark, a car enthusiast himself, launched Garage Deluxe four years ago with the goal of combining his passion for cars with his expertise in architecture. His clients, who prefer to remain anonymous due to the value of their collections, seek out Clark for his expertise in creating bespoke, one-of-a-kind garage spaces that not only house their valuable cars but also provide a luxurious environment for relaxation and entertainment.
One of Clark’s most impressive projects is an underground garage in the UK that can accommodate up to 100 cars. The space features a bar, dining area, and turntables that allow the owner to display their cars in a curated manner, changing the display at intervals to showcase different themes or collections. Another project in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, offers space for 50 cars and focuses on creating a luxurious environment for the owner to enjoy their collection.
But Clark’s work isn’t limited to just storage spaces. He also designs workshops for companies that specialize in preparing and racing classic cars, such as a project in Abu Dhabi for a company that works on Mercedes 300 SLs. These spaces feature not only mechanical and bodyshop bays but also client areas for owners to relax and socialize while their cars are being worked on.
Another player in the luxury garage world is design firm Design_North, which has created a brand called Hypercave for high-end garage interiors. Director Scott Stewart, a car enthusiast himself, recently completed his first Hypercave project for a UK-based client with a collection of hypercars. Inspired by the sci-fi movie Tron, the space is brightly lit using renewable energy stored in a Tesla Powerwall and has attracted interest from Universal Pictures for potential filming opportunities.
Both Garage Deluxe and Hypercave offer clients the opportunity to create custom-designed, high-end garage spaces that not only showcase their valuable car collections but also provide a luxurious environment for relaxation and entertainment. While these projects may come with a hefty price tag, for owners of high-value car collections, the investment is well worth it to ensure their prized possessions are stored and displayed in style.
