The Jaecoo 5: A New Contender in the SUV Market
The highly anticipated Jaecoo 5, set to rival the Range Rover Evoque, is set to hit the UK market this summer with a starting price of £24,505. This new model will be the second offering from the Chery-owned brand, following the success of the Jaecoo 7 which has already sold 8399 units this year.
Powered by a 145bhp 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine at launch, the Jaecoo 5 promises impressive performance. The brand has also hinted at an EV variant in the near future, with more details expected to be revealed in the coming weeks.
Visually, the Jaecoo 5 bears a striking resemblance to its larger sibling, the Jaecoo 7, with similar front and rear end designs. However, the 5 features a shorter wheelbase and a more sleek, raked roofline for a sportier look.
The entry-level Jaecoo 5 comes equipped with a 13.2-inch vertical touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and all-round parking cameras for added convenience and connectivity.
Buyers can choose between two trim levels: Pure and Luxury. The Pure trim includes a six-speaker audio system, six-way adjustable seats, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard. For an additional £28,000, the Luxury trim offers a panoramic roof, wireless phone charging, and heated and ventilated front seats for added comfort and luxury.
