The Kamm 912C: A Modern Take on a Classic

Stepping into the driver’s seat of the Kamm 912C, one is immediately struck by the strong and linear pull of the engine. The throttle response in sportier mode adds to the overall driving experience, with a heavy pedal that reduces stiction. The brake and clutch pedals also have a pleasing weight to them, adding to the overall sense of control. However, the gearbox is noted as the weak point, with a vague lever that stands in contrast to the precision found elsewhere in the vehicle. The team at Kamm is already working on developing their own five-speed transaxle to address this issue.

One standout feature of the Kamm 912C is the ability to customize the final drive ratio, with the option for a longer ratio for a responsive feel at all times. The lightweight design of the vehicle, coupled with ample torque from low rpm, ensures that the car feels nimble and agile. With a power-to-weight ratio similar to that of a Renaultsport Clio but significantly lighter, the Kamm 912C excels in agility and quick direction changes. The modern ride and handling characteristics are complemented by a steering feel that retains a classic touch, offering a unique driving experience.

Since its initial introduction, the Kamm 912C has undergone improvements in usability and finish, making it a more well-rounded option for enthusiasts. While the price tag may be on the higher end, the Kamm 912C appeals to those who appreciate lightweight bespoke cars and enjoy a thrilling driving experience.

Overall, the Kamm 912C proves to be a modern interpretation of a classic design, offering a blend of performance, agility, and unique driving characteristics that make it a standout choice in the restomod market.
