Mazda has recently introduced a new variant of its EZ-6 electric sedan, targeting younger drivers with a sporty design. The EZ-6 has been available in China since last fall, priced at just under $20,000. It has been performing well in the market, with nearly 2,500 units sold in its first month.
The global version of the EZ-6, known as the 6e, is set to launch in Europe and other regions later this year. The first 6e model has already been produced at Changan Mazda’s Nanjing plant, which serves as the company’s new global hub for research, development, manufacturing, and export.
The sporty new EZ-6 variant features black side skirts and wheels, red brake calipers, and a revamped interior with suede seats and red stitching. The design aims to give the car a more dynamic and youthful appeal. While Mazda has not disclosed pricing details for the new variant, it is expected to come at a higher price point than the base model.
In terms of powertrains, the EZ-6 is available in China with both all-electric (EV) and extended-range (EREV) options. The fully electric version offers an impressive driving range of up to 600 km (373 miles CLTC) and can recharge from 30% to 80% in just 15 minutes.
For European markets, the 6e will come with two battery options, 68 kWh or 80 kWh, providing driving ranges of up to 479 km (300 miles) and 552 km (343 miles) on the WLTP rating scale. The size of the 6e is comparable to that of the Tesla Model 3, making it a competitive option in the electric sedan market.
Overall, Mazda’s new sporty EZ-6 variant is set to bring a fresh and youthful appeal to the electric sedan segment, offering a blend of performance, style, and sustainability. With its launch in global markets, including Europe, the EZ-6 is poised to make a significant impact in the electric vehicle landscape.
