Nio Day 2025 to be held in Hangzhou in late Sept

Nio Inc (NYSE: NIO) has announced that Nio Day 2025 will take place in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, in late September. This year’s event will see the official launch of the third-generation ES8 SUV, marking a departure from the traditional year-end timing and selection of the host city through a user community vote.

Hangzhou, known for being the headquarters of automakers like Geely Auto and Leapmotor, as well as tech giants like Alibaba, will play host to Nio’s flagship event. While the specific date for Nio Day 2025 has not been revealed yet, anticipation is high for the unveiling of the new ES8 SUV.

In addition to the third-generation ES8, there are rumors circulating that Nio might introduce a special edition Firefly EV at Nio Day 2025. This special edition is said to be based on the European version of the compact hatchback, adding to the excitement surrounding the event.

The Firefly brand made its debut in China earlier this year, with deliveries of the Firefly EV already underway in Norway and the Netherlands. This move marks Nio’s entry into the overseas market and showcases the brand’s commitment to expanding its reach globally.

Nio’s decision to move Nio Day to the fall aligns with its strategy to capitalize on the fourth-quarter sales peak season. The company aims to leverage this timing to drive sales and generate increased interest in its new product offerings.

Recently, Nio unveiled the third-generation ES8, offering significant upgrades and a lower price point compared to its predecessor. The new ES8 is equipped with a 100-kWh battery pack and is priced starting at RMB 416,800 ($58,220) during the pre-sales period. This represents a notable reduction in price compared to the older version of the ES8, making it more accessible to consumers.

The positive reception to the new ES8 has translated into a surge in Nio’s stock price, with shares rising about 33 percent over three trading days in Hong Kong. The anticipation surrounding the third-generation ES8 and the potential launch of the special edition Firefly EV have fueled investor optimism and interest in Nio’s offerings.

As Nio prepares for Nio Day 2025 and the official launch of the third-generation ES8, all eyes are on the company as it continues to innovate and expand its presence in the competitive electric vehicle market. Stay tuned for more updates on Nio’s latest developments and product launches.
