Renault’s Newest City Car: The 2025 Twingo Concept

Renault is on a mission to bring the Mk4 Twingo from concept to reality in under two years, teaming up with a Chinese consultancy to streamline the engineering and production processes. Despite its anticipated affordable price tag, comparable to the Kia Picanto and Hyundai i10, this four-seater city car boasts a range of cutting-edge technology and is positioned as a stylish and fun option for urban driving.

The interior of the Twingo Concept bears a striking resemblance to Renault’s larger electric vehicles, featuring a 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen. However, subtle nods to the original Twingo from 1992 can be seen throughout the cabin, creating a nostalgic yet modern ambiance.

Described as “airy, cylindrical, and suspended,” the cockpit of the Twingo Concept showcases ovoid air vents and surfaces reminiscent of the iconic 1990s supermini. The color-coordinated seats, inspired by the vibrant upholstery options of the past, add a playful touch to the interior design.

One of the standout design elements is the prominent red hazard light button, a throwback to the distinctive button on the original Twingo’s dashboard. The front seatbacks, adjusted with skateboard wheels, offer a quirky yet practical touch, embracing the urban flair of the 1990s.

Renault has focused on enhancing the Twingo Concept’s functionality and usability, with features like bag storage cubbies, a full-width shelf for storage, and a split-folding rear bench for increased boot space. Magnetic phone mounts and an elasticated bottle holder further add to the convenience of the interior.

From its retro-modern aesthetic to its user-friendly design, every aspect of the Twingo Concept has been meticulously crafted to simplify daily life for drivers. With a blend of nostalgia and innovation, Renault’s latest city car promises to offer a delightful driving experience for urban dwellers.
