Shanghai (Gasgoo)- SAIC General Motors (SAIC-GM) recently announced the integration of the DeepSeek-R1 reasoning AI model into its smart cockpits. This joint venture between SAIC Motor and General Motors is taking a big step towards enhancing the user experience in their vehicles.

The integration of the DeepSeek-R1 model will be featured in new vehicle models under the Cadillac and Buick brands. This technology will revolutionize the way drivers interact with their vehicles, providing advanced features and capabilities.

SAIC-GM has established an “integrated edge-cloud AI model hub” to support the integration of multiple advanced AI models. By combining DeepSeek’s reasoning capabilities with ERNIE Bot’s creative generation abilities, the AI hub can understand complex user commands and offer interactive features like content retrieval and generative content creation.

The company aims to create smart cockpits that go beyond traditional boundaries of perception, reasoning, thinking, and interaction. With the integration of AI models, vehicles are evolving into “sentient AI entities,” providing a more intuitive and intelligent driving experience.

Several other automobile brands have also announced deep integration with the DeepSeek AI model, including Geely, ZEEKR, Dongfeng Motor, VOYAH, GAC Group, Baojun, IM Motors, Changan, and Leapmotor. These advancements in AI technology are shaping the future of automotive innovation and enhancing the overall driving experience for consumers.
