Great Wall Motor’s HAVAL brand has officially launched the diesel-powered edition of the second-generation HAVAL H9 SUV. This new model comes in two trim levels, with prices ranging from 233,900 yuan to 247,900 yuan.
HAVAL H9 is the brand’s first mid-to-large seven-seat SUV, initially hitting the market in November 2014. After undergoing several updates, the all-new generation was introduced in September of this year. The gasoline-powered edition was released on September 25, featuring significant design and interior enhancements, along with a larger body and a 2.0T gasoline engine.
The exterior design of the diesel-powered edition remains similar to its gasoline counterpart, with a distinctive four-section chrome grille, retro-inspired headlights, and a rugged skid plate on the front bumper. The side profile maintains a traditional body-on-frame design with 18-inch wheels, measuring 5,070mm in length, 1,960mm (or 1,976mm) in width, and 1,930mm in height.
At the rear, the vehicle features a side-opening tailgate with a large spare tire and vertically aligned taillights for enhanced visibility. Inside, the diesel-powered model boasts a full-digital instrument cluster, a 14.6-inch central touchscreen, and physical buttons around the gear shift area. An off-road grab handle in front of the passenger seat highlights the vehicle’s off-road capabilities.
Under the hood, the HAVAL H9 diesel edition is powered by a 2.4T diesel engine producing 186 horsepower and 480Nm of torque, paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission and an intelligent four-wheel-drive system. The vehicle achieves a combined fuel consumption of 8.9L/100km. In comparison, the gasoline-powered variant comes with a 2.0T engine delivering 165 kW and 385Nm of torque, with a combined fuel consumption of 10.7L/100km.
Overall, the HAVAL H9 diesel-powered edition offers a rugged yet luxurious SUV experience, perfect for those seeking adventure both on and off the road.
