SGMW Celebrates Production Milestone with 30 Millionth Vehicle
Shanghai (Gasgoo)- SAIC-GM-Wuling (SGMW) recently marked a significant achievement as their 30 millionth complete vehicle, a Wuling Xingguang S, rolled off the production line. This milestone solidifies SGMW’s position as China’s first indigenous automaker to reach such a remarkable production and sales volume.

The success of SGMW can be attributed to the significant role played by new energy vehicles (NEVs). The company has sold over 2.4 million NEVs by the end of 2024, with 800,000 units sold in 2024 alone. This represents more than 50% of their annual sales and a notable 63% year-on-year increase.
International markets have also contributed to SGMW’s success, with 225,000 units/sets of complete vehicles and CKDs exported in 2024, bringing the cumulative export total to 1.158 million units/sets.
SGMW’s presence in overseas markets, particularly in Indonesia, has been significant. The company began producing the Confero model in Indonesia in 2017 and established a complete vehicle factory with an annual production capacity of 100,000 vehicles. This move towards NEVs has attracted investments from Chinese component suppliers and collaborations with local industry partners.
Currently, SGMW offers three NEV models in Indonesia targeting the IDR 200 million to 400 million passenger vehicle segment. These models include the Air EV, Binguo EV, and Cloud EV.
Furthermore, SGMW’s LIM (lean intelligent manufacturing) island-type factory was honored as an “Auto Manufacturing Super Factory” by the China Automotive Technology and Research Center.
