Stellantis, a leading automotive company, has recently expanded its partnership with French AI firm Mistral AI to integrate artificial intelligence across various areas, including vehicle engineering and in-car experiences. By leveraging Mistral AI’s expertise in language models and automation, Stellantis aims to enhance data analysis, streamline development processes, and improve customer interactions.

Ned Curic, Stellantis chief engineering & technology officer, expressed his excitement about the partnership, stating, “There are many players in the AI space, and we’re particularly happy to partner with Mistral AI for its strong ability to adapt quickly and drive meaningful results in a highly collaborative way. Together, we are exploring AI’s potential across several domains to enhance our product development, customer experience, and deliver real benefits.”

One of the key initiatives under this collaboration is the development of an advanced in-car assistant that offers real-time conversational support for drivers, functioning as a voice-enabled user manual. This innovative solution aims to enhance customer satisfaction and provide a seamless driving experience.

Additionally, the partnership is exploring AI-driven innovations such as a Bill of Materials Data Intelligence tool, which streamlines the analysis of component databases, and a chatbot that assists Stellantis employees with purchasing company vehicles. AI is also being used to automate the processing of vehicle feedback data from development fleets and customer surveys, enabling the identification of trends and implementation of corrective measures more effectively.

The “Club Stellantis” virtual assistant is another exciting development, optimized for multilingual queries to cater to the company’s plans for European expansion. Furthermore, Stellantis is evaluating Mistral AI’s edge computing models for real-time anomaly detection in manufacturing processes.

Arthur Mensch, CEO and co-founder of Mistral AI, commented on the partnership, saying, “This partnership is an important step in our commitment to making GenAI more accessible and valuable. Stellantis’ bold approach to technology and its integration of advanced AI into real-world driving experiences make it an ideal partner to showcase how Mistral AI’s versatile solutions can reinvent mobility and empower engineers in their work.”

These initiatives are part of a series of joint projects aimed at enhancing customer satisfaction, product development, and manufacturing processes at Stellantis. The company recently announced organizational restructuring to improve local decision-making capabilities and maintain global coordination, with software activities now integrated into the Product Development & Technology organization led by Ned Curic.

In conclusion, the collaboration between Stellantis and Mistral AI represents a significant step towards harnessing the power of artificial intelligence to revolutionize the automotive industry. By integrating AI across various domains, both companies are paving the way for innovative solutions that enhance the driving experience and streamline development processes.
