Xiaomi has made a bold move in the luxury car market with the launch of its SU7 Ultra, a high-performance variant of the SU7 electric sedan. The SU7 Ultra comes with a starting price of RMB 529,900 ($72,930), a significant reduction from the previous pre-sales price of RMB 814,900. This new model aims to challenge established players like Porsche and offer a unique combination of performance, technology, and luxury.
The company recently unveiled the SU7 Ultra at a launch event, where it announced that customers could place orders starting at 10 pm Beijing time. Within just 10 minutes of opening for ordering, the SU7 Ultra received over 6,900 orders, indicating strong demand for this new offering.
Powered by three electric motors with a combined maximum power of 1,138 kW and maximum horsepower of 1,548 Ps, the SU7 Ultra can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 1.98 seconds and reach a top speed of 350 kilometers per hour. The model is equipped with a 93.7 kWh Li-ion ternary battery pack that offers a CLTC range of 630 kilometers and supports fast charging, allowing it to go from 10 percent to 80 percent in just 11 minutes.
To enhance the performance of the SU7 Ultra even further, Xiaomi is offering a Racing Package for an additional fee of RMB 100,000. This package includes upgrades such as improved shock absorbers, tires, and high-performance brake pads, making the SU7 Ultra comparable to the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT.
In addition to the standard SU7 Ultra, Xiaomi will also introduce a two-seater Nürburgring Limited Edition variant, starting at RMB 814,900. This limited edition model is expected to undergo challenges at the Nürburgring track before being made available to customers.
Xiaomi’s foray into the automotive industry has been met with success, with the regular SU7 accumulating over 248,000 locked-in orders within nine months of its launch. The company’s sales target for the SU7 Ultra is set at 10,000 units in 2025, with CEO Lei Jun expressing confidence in achieving this goal.
Overall, Xiaomi’s expansion into the luxury car market with the SU7 Ultra demonstrates the company’s commitment to innovation and pushing boundaries in the electric vehicle industry. With its impressive performance capabilities and competitive pricing, the SU7 Ultra is set to make a significant impact in the market and further solidify Xiaomi’s position as a key player in the automotive sector.
