Xiaomi Auto made headlines today with the announcement that its SU7 Ultra prototype has officially claimed the title of the world’s fastest four-door car at the renowned Nürburgring Nordschleife track. The impressive lap time of 6:46.874 solidifies Xiaomi’s position as a formidable player in the automotive industry.

The journey to achieving this record-breaking feat was not without its challenges. Xiaomi Auto faced numerous setbacks during their attempts to conquer the Nürburgring. Bad weather conditions on multiple scheduled dates hindered their progress, but the team persevered and finally secured a one-hour window on October 28th to make their mark on the track.

With meticulous preparation and precision, the Xiaomi SU7 took to the track and crossed the finish line in a blazing time of 6:46.874. The achievement was confirmed by Nürburgring officials, marking a significant milestone for Xiaomi Auto.

The SU7 Ultra prototype, first introduced during Lei Jun’s annual address in July, is a track-ready, high-performance version of the SU7 sedan. Equipped with Xiaomi’s powerful V8s motor, generating an impressive 1526 hp, the SU7 Ultra showcases exceptional speed capabilities. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 1.97 seconds and reach a top speed exceeding 350 km/h.

Xiaomi’s foray into the electric vehicle market began with the launch of the SU7 earlier this year. The SU7 offers three versions – Standard, Pro, and Max – with prices ranging from RMB 215,900 to RMB 299,900. The production version of the SU7 Ultra is expected to be priced around 800,000 yuan.

Behind the wheel during this record-setting lap was David Pittard, a seasoned driver who recently clinched victory at the 2023 24 Hours of the Nürburgring. Xiaomi’s upcoming event promises to unveil more details about the SU7 Ultra’s production model, slated for release in the first half of 2025.

Founder and CEO Lei Jun expressed his excitement for the future of Xiaomi Auto, emphasizing that the production model will retain the core structure, triple-motor setup, and battery configuration of the prototype. It’s important to note that the Nürburgring lap time belongs to the prototype version, not the mass production model.

As Xiaomi continues to push boundaries and redefine automotive standards, the SU7 Ultra stands as a testament to their commitment to innovation and performance excellence. Stay tuned for more updates on Xiaomi’s groundbreaking advancements in the automotive industry.
