Xpeng, a leading electric vehicle manufacturer, is making significant strides in the integration of its cutting-edge Turing AI smart driving chip into Volkswagen’s upcoming models set to launch in China next year. This collaboration signifies a major advancement in the automotive industry, as Xpeng’s innovative technology is set to revolutionize the driving experience.

According to a recent report by the Financial Times, Xpeng’s chairman and CEO, He Xiaopeng, revealed that the company is actively working to incorporate its Turing chip into Volkswagen’s new lineup of vehicles. This partnership underscores Xpeng’s commitment to developing advanced AI solutions for the automotive sector.

He Xiaopeng emphasized the long-term vision behind Xpeng’s chip development, highlighting its potential applications across various industries such as automotive, aviation, and robotics. The Turing chip is designed to support a wide range of platforms and power Xpeng’s large language model, enhancing the overall performance of its vehicles.

In addition to collaborating with Volkswagen, Xpeng is engaged in discussions with other automakers to supply its cutting-edge chips. The company is seeking long-term partnerships to drive innovation and deliver superior technology solutions to the market.

The Financial Times also reported ongoing talks between Xpeng and Volkswagen regarding the use of the Turing chips in the development of two Volkswagen brand cars for the mid-class segment. This collaboration is poised to redefine the driving experience for consumers and showcase the capabilities of Xpeng’s advanced AI technology.

Xpeng recently unveiled the G7 SUV, which features the company’s in-house developed Turing AI chip as a key selling point. With one Turing chip delivering computing power equivalent to three mainstream autonomous driving chips, the G7 sets a new standard for AI-enabled vehicles. The Ultra variant of the G7 boasts three Turing AI chips, providing over 2,200 TOPS of effective computing power and achieving L3 computational power.
