Australia has a long history with the iconic MG brand, dating back to the late 1950s and early 1960s when more than 2000 MGAs were assembled in factories in Sydney. In a time when Australian streets were filled with Holden sedans and Bedford trucks, the sleek and stylish British sports car captured the attention of many, much like modern-day Ferraris or Lamborghinis do.

The MGAs of that era featured classic design elements such as a separate chassis, lever-arm shocks, leaf-spring live rear axle, and wooden floors reminiscent of earlier MG models. However, the modern styling of the MGA, with its streamlined bodywork designed by MG’s chief designer Syd Enever, set it apart from its predecessors.

Fast forward six decades, and the MGA is making a comeback in the form of the Frontline MGA. Developed by MG restoration and restomod specialist Frontline Cars in Britain, this new version of the classic sports car combines the charm of a vintage vehicle with modern performance and technology.

The Frontline MGA features a modern powertrain, upgraded suspension, brakes, and steering components, making it a true driver’s car. Australian market versions of the Frontline MGA will be manufactured and sold by Frontline Cars Australia, a subsidiary of Modern Classic Cars Foundation.

The chassis of the Frontline MGA is reinforced and equipped with a redesigned front suspension, coil springs, Nitron shocks, and a modern rear axle setup. The car is powered by a choice of two naturally aspirated Mazda engines, delivering impressive performance and driving dynamics.

Inside, the Frontline MGA offers luxurious trim options, modern conveniences like an audio system with Bluetooth connectivity, and even heated seats. Customers can customize their cars with various options, including air conditioning and electric windows.

Driving the Frontline MGA is a thrilling experience, with responsive handling, precise steering, and a balanced chassis that inspires confidence. The car’s performance is impressive, with the 2.0-litre model capable of accelerating from 0 to 100km/h in just 5.0 seconds.

While the Frontline MGA comes with a premium price tag, it offers a unique blend of classic style and modern performance that is sure to turn heads wherever it goes. For enthusiasts looking for a bespoke, engaging driving experience, the Frontline MGA is a standout choice.
