Li Auto, a major player in China’s extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) market, celebrated a significant milestone as its 1 millionth vehicle rolled off the assembly line at its plant in Changzhou, Jiangsu province. This achievement comes 58 months after the company’s first vehicle was produced in November 2019.
The company marked this momentous occasion with a ceremony at its Changzhou plant, attended by officials from Jiangsu province and company executives. Li Auto, founded in July 2015, has quickly established itself as a key player in the industry.
Initially launching its Li One EREV model in October 2018, Li Auto has since expanded its lineup to include the Li L6, Li L7, Li L8, and Li L9 models. The company recently introduced its first battery electric vehicle (BEV) model, the Li Mega MPV, on March 1.
The Li One and Li L9 models have each surpassed 210,000 deliveries, while the Li L8 and Li L7 have exceeded 180,000 and 220,000 deliveries, respectively. The newest addition to the lineup, the Li L6, has seen over 110,000 deliveries since its launch in April, setting a record for the fastest delivery by a new entrant in the industry.
In September alone, Li Auto delivered 53,709 vehicles, bringing its total deliveries since inception to 975,176 vehicles. The company is on track to reach the 1 million milestone, with logistics playing a key role in determining the exact delivery date.
In the third quarter, Li Auto achieved a record 152,831 deliveries, up 45.4% year-on-year and within the guidance range of 145,000 to 155,000 vehicles. From January to September, the company delivered 341,812 vehicles, representing a 39.96% year-on-year increase.
Looking ahead, Li Auto is making strategic moves to further strengthen its position in the market. The company recently announced plans to establish a research and development office in Hong Kong, with reports suggesting that mass production of a self-driving chip could be on the horizon.
As Li Auto continues to innovate and expand its product offerings, the milestone of producing 1 million vehicles underscores the company’s commitment to sustainable mobility and its growing presence in the electric vehicle market.
