Mercedes-Benz is gearing up to electrify its best-selling SUV, the GLC, with the upcoming debut of the GLC EV at the IAA Mobility 2025 in Munich. The highly anticipated electric SUV will be showcased alongside other new models as part of Mercedes’ biggest product launch ever.
Mercedes CEO, Ola Källenius, expressed excitement about the electrification of the GLC, emphasizing that it’s not just a new model but a transformation of their top seller. The GLC SUV has maintained its popularity as the most sought-after Mercedes-Benz SUV in the US and globally.
The luxury automaker has been teasing the GLC EV with teaser images and spy photos from its testing phase in Sweden. Källenius recently provided an exclusive preview of the electric SUV during a test drive, showcasing its sleek design and innovative features.
According to Mercedes, the GLC EV represents a new era of design for the brand, embodying iconic, versatile, intuitive, and smooth characteristics. The electric SUV is set to make its official debut at the Munich Auto Show in September, where Mercedes will also unveil the new CLA EV, CLA Shooting Brake, and Concept AMG GT XX.
In addition to the GLC EV, Mercedes will offer a glimpse into the future of its van lineup with a camouflaged prototype of the electric VLE, scheduled for launch in 2026. The event will also showcase the latest tech advancements from Mercedes, including Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, Intelligent Cockpit, and more.
Visitors to the show will have the opportunity to test drive demo models equipped with self-driving technology like MB.DRIVE ASSIST PRO and DRIVE PILOT, offering a firsthand experience of conditionally automated driving at speeds of up to 95 km/h (59 mph).
