Aito, a prominent new energy vehicle (NEV) brand developed through a collaboration between Huawei and Seres Group, has recently submitted a filing for its flagship model, the M9. This filing suggests that the popular SUV may be undergoing a facelift in the near future.

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) in China recently released a catalog for public comment, which includes the Aito M9. This catalog allows the public to provide feedback on the model between February 20-26, marking the final regulatory step before the M9 can be officially sold in China.

The Aito M9 comes in three variants in the latest filing, including two extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) models and one battery electric vehicle (BEV) model. These models are produced at Aito’s production facilities located in various districts of Chongqing.

With a length of 5,230 mm, width of 1,999 mm, height of 1,800 mm, and a wheelbase of 3,110 mm, the M9 remains consistent in size with the current model. The BEV version weighs between 2,610-2,680 kg, while the EREV versions range from 2,625-2,715 kg, all boasting a top speed of 200 km/h. Notably, all variants are equipped with Li-ion ternary batteries from CATL.

The BEV model is powered by dual electric motors from Huawei, with the front motor delivering 160 kW of peak power and the rear motor providing 230 kW. On the other hand, the EREV variants feature front and rear motors with peak powers of 165 kW and 200 kW, respectively, along with a 1.5 L displacement engine generating 118 kW of peak power.

All versions of the Aito M9 in the recent filing incorporate LiDAR technology on the roof, with reports suggesting the use of four LiDARs in the model. Initially launched on December 26, 2023, the Aito M9 garnered significant success, accumulating over 200,000 firm orders within 11 months of its market presence.

In January, the Aito M9 continued its impressive performance by delivering 12,483 units, maintaining its position at the top of China’s luxury car market for vehicles priced above RMB 500,000 for the 10th consecutive month. Alongside the M9, Aito offers other models such as the M7 and M5, catering to a wider range of consumers.

With Aito’s continuous innovation and success in the luxury car market, the brand’s future endeavors, including potential facelifts and new model offerings, are highly anticipated. Stay tuned for more updates on Aito and its contributions to the NEV industry.
